Diesel says Don’t Be Smart, Be Stupid.

It seems there are mixed opinions on Diesel’s new “Stupid” ad campaign. In my opinion, on paper it reads like a clever marketing ploy. Read Below:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Diesel Stupid Philosophy
Like balloons, we are filled with hopes and dreams. But. Over time a single sentence creeps into our lives. Don’t be stupid. It’s the crusher of possibility. It’s the worlds greatest deflator. The world is full of smart people. Doing all kind of smart things… Thats smart.  Well, we’re with stupid. Stupid is the relentless pursuit of a regret free life. Smart may have the brains…but stupid has the balls. The smart might recognize things for how they are. The stupid see things for how they could be. Smart critiques. Stupid creates. The fact is if we didnt have stupid thoughts wed have no interesting thoughts at all. Smart may have the plans… but stupid has the stories.  Smart may have the authority but stupid has one hell of a hangover. Its not smart to take risks… Its stupid.  To be stupid is to be brave. The stupid isnt afraid to fail. The stupid know there are worse things than failure… like not even trying.  Smart had one good idea, and that idea was stupid. You can’t outsmart stupid. So don’t even try. Remember only stupid can be truly brilliant.
So, BE STUPID
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Although I don’t see how having a hangover correlates to bravery and risk taking, in theory, I love this ad campaign. I’m all about embracing free thought and creativity and I think this ad campaign is attempting to build upon similar concepts. The only issue I’m having is with Diesel’s visual execution of the message. If I ever caught a girl on a ladder flashing her boobs into a security camera or a guy with his head stuck in a mailbox I wouldn’t label them courageous risk takers who aren’t afraid of failure. I’d more likely point fingers and laugh at the idiocy while assuming they were under the influence (I’d also steal a quick pic for facebook of course). These images effectively depict “Stupidity” for all the wrong reasons.

Overall, it’s a perfect example of an excellent concept with horrible execution.

KiD CuDi!

Had to blow off the dust on the blog but alas I have returned. Seeing the KiD CuDi “Day N Nite” video actually inspired me to make a post. I already like the track but the video is awesome. Also, if you haven’t yet seen the new Air Yeezy sneakers check em out. – DREA

Hussle In The House

NIPSEY HUSSLE – HUSSLE IN THE HOUSE

DOWNLOAD IT

So I was snooping around on JD’s GLOBAL14 site (as I do from time to time) and found this cat above Nipsey Hussle’s track “Hussle In The House”. I love it. I was a HUGE Kris Kross fan coming up and I love how he flips “Jump”. Also, surprisingly I haven’t made too many hip-hop fashion posts in a minute. Ya’ll already know I’m 2 seconds from making this a hip-hop fashion blog site. Pretty soon I’m going to change my domain name and logo to I♥HIPHOP+FASHION. I’m being facetious but yeah…Check out JD’s new Popwatch. Hot or Not? I would so rock these joints! -DREA

VMA 2008…*yawns*

There’s always this big to do about the VMAs. I almost forgot that it came on tonight until I turned to VH1 which was advertising the VMAs (wtf?? –Viacom runnin’ this rap shit © Mos Def).  So I watched for a while, got bored and dosed off a time or two.  Despite that I stayed tuned in after I remembered reading a rumor that Kanye was performing and that he might bring out *gasp* Eminem. Yeah so the show concluded and there was no Em BUT Kanye’s performance was worth the wait. Typically, when it comes to award shows I’m more interested in the artists’ outfits then much anything else.  But this year I’ll have a little fun. Listed below are my VMA “highlights”.  Holla! – DREA

YAY for Ye!!!

“Love Lockdown” was performed in typical Ye fashion.  Real classy.  I like the song.  If his album is really set to drop soon I think we’re in for another noteworthy LP.

When will LL let it go?

I respect the man but damn he’s way past retirement age.

Lil Wayne sings “Sweet Home Alabama”

Wayne sounded like a howling dog but it was a fun performance nonetheless.

I bet the Hanson Brothers were hating!

LOL

T-Pain and Wayne

They look equally amusing here.

And I was surprised we didn’t see more of this…
