I was sleeping on Havoc’s solo debut effort. I know…shame on me. The two tracks below knock hard. Havoc’s The Kush will definitely be my next pick up. Damn I miss Mobb Deep…-DREA
It looks like, after a brief period of silence, 50 has officially resurfaced. Rick Ross must have put some fire in him cause the tracks I’m hearing are nasty!
50 Cent’s “Where You Are” is the dopest rap tribute to Michael Jackson I’ve heard thus far. If you know of any other decent MJ tributes (exclude that trash put out by Game and Chris Brown please!) I’d appreciate links. B EZ. – DREA
Why didn’t anyone tell me about this? So apparently Hurricane Chris performed “Ms. Berry” in front of Louisiana Gov officials recently. This just looks ALL types of awkward. LOL – DREA
Ann Arbor natives Buff 1 and DJ Rhettmatic (Beat Junkies) join forces to form Crown Royale. If their single “Get It Up” is any indication, we can expect this collab to garner us some dope product. I like! When the hell is the album dropping? – DREA
“I know we facin’ a recession but the music ya’ll makin’ gone make it the Great Depression” – Jay-Z “D.O.A.”
So, I came out from hiding to post this new Jay track “D.O.A.” aka Death of Autotune (shot at Kanye? Hmm.). Those that know me know how I feel about Jay (OVER-FUCKIN-RATED). Basically, I’m not the biggest Jay fan. However, I have always given the cat his due. I’ve even said that when (if) the man ever decides to stop rhymin’ about Gucci flip flops and foreign cars I’d probably be his biggest champion. This is proof of that sentiment. I’m diggin this joint. The message alone is truth.com. Holla at me and let me know what you think. – DREA
“love em all, trust a few, and fear none.” – Mos Def
Yo, ever since Mos Def’s The EcstaicLP was announced, I’ve been faithfully posting every update I’ve gotten a hold of. I haven’t been this excited about an LP in a while. Mos has been away for much too long. If you didn’t know, The Ecstaticdrops May 12th! That’s tomorrow folks. Casa Beyis an awesome appetizer. Check it out. – DREA
“You don’t hear my lyrics, you see em.” – Singapore Kane
Boston’s Singapore Kaneis hands down my favorite artist of the week. Flow is ILL, Lyrics are ILL—even Singa’s cadence is dope. He smoothly commands “Whatever I Wanna Do” (the monster ILLMIND track) with his fluid, laidback flow. I feel the same way about Singaas I felt the first time I heard Ali Vegas. I’m not surprised though. As the protégé of Big Shugg and production from heavy hitters like Primo and Illmind , I foresee lots of big things from SK coming down the pike. – DREA
